I am completely in support of everyone having their “thing.” Rather that be transitioning to vegan, vegetarian, exercising excessively, or eating a double bacon cheeseburgers on Thursday. If being a vegan makes you feel better mentally, emotionally, and physically- vegan your ass off. If eating a double bacon cheeseburger (extra cheese!) makes you happy on Thursdays than coin it “Cheeseburger Thursdays!” Do not attempt to mold yourself into doing differently because of other peoples opinion of how you should live your life.
Obviously, whatever “your thing” is should not be a ploy to stop taking care of your health, but it should be based on how you find YOUR happy place. Your thing should be based off of whatever forces you to grow, exceed, relax, let loose, laugh, be angry, get excited, dance, sit still, or whatever the hell YOUR THING IS.
“Do your thing. Do it unapologetically. Don’t be encouraged my criticism. You probably already know what their going to say. Pay no mind to the fear of failure. Its far more valuable than success. Take ownership, takes chances, and have fun. And no matter what, do not ever stop doing your thing.” -Asher Roth
I often hear and see people doing a lifestyle change because other peoples opinion and judgement of when, where, and how to live, eat, breath, and poop. Often times, their reasonings are based on another persons perception of reality.
My “thing” for the past month has been to refrain from eating meat on Mondays. This is not to say that I am going around telling people to stop eating meat on Monday’s because of how it makes ME feel, but simply because I love meat so damn much; challenging myself to refrain from it makes me happy. This is MY thing. Thus, because of this challenge, it encourages ME to be stronger and overall it makes ME feel better. It has nothing to do with anyone else’s opinion or fake medical google advise. Besides, its MY life. MY body. MY happiness. MY THING.
